Installation Guide for Peak & Peak Lite
We offer two roof tent models – Peak and Peak Lite. While they differ slightly in features and materials, both models share the same structure and installation method. That means this single guide applies to both tents and will walk you through the entire process, from unboxing to mounting and setup.
Unboxing Your Roof Tent
When unboxing your roof tent, handle it with care — it’s large and heavy. Please be careful to avoid damaging it, especially when handling and removing the foam protective wrap. When you take the tent out of the packaging, slowly open it a little and remove the pouch inside with the tools and fittings.
Inside the tent, you’ll find:
Ladder
Mounting kit (bolts, nuts, sliders, clamps)
Porch poles (stored in a separate bag)
Shoe bag
Before installing, take out all loose accessories so you have space to work.
Mounting the Tent to Your Vehicle
You’ll need at least two people to safely lift the tent onto your roof bars. Make sure it sits centrally and doesn’t block your boot from opening.
With a second person, carefully lift the tent and place it centred across your roof bars.
First, drop each of the eight bolts from the mounting kit into a slider. There are two fixing rails underneath the tent — slide the sliders (with bolts) into these rails. You’ll need to insert a total of four sliders into each rail – ideally, insert two from the front and two from the rear.
Once the sliders are inside the rails, you’ll need to slightly lift the tent so you can position the inner bolts on the opposite side of each roof bar, allowing the U-clamps to be fitted from both sides.
Once all bolts are in place, loosely attach the U-clamps using the supplied washers and nuts — just a few turns to hold everything in place.
At this point, centre the tent properly on the roof bars, making sure it is not too far forward or backwards, and check that the boot can open fully.
When you’re happy with the position, tighten the nuts with the spanner provided (approx. 13 mm) until the clamps slightly bend around the bars. Do not overtighten, as this may damage the clamps and the bolts.
Finally, insert the rubber end caps into the rails. Then give the tent a good push from all sides to make sure it’s securely fixed and doesn’t move.
Retighten Your Roof Bars
It’s crucial to re-tighten your roof bars after the first drive or night of use, as the added weight may loosen them slightly.
Once re-tightened, they usually stay secure, but regular checks are still recommended, especially before long journeys.
Using Your Roof Tent
Opening
Undo the metal latches and gently lift the lid. Gas struts will take care of the rest.
This applies only to the Peak model: You can keep bedding (like sleeping bags and pillows) inside while it’s closed.
Ladder
Attach the ladder to the brackets, then undo the velcro strap and extend it from the top rung down.
To collapse, push the two black buttons on each rung inward, starting from the bottom. Watch your fingers, and never let kids use the ladder unsupervised.
Keep the ladder as upright as possible to avoid slipping.
Porch Poles
These are in a separate bag inside the tent. Insert each pole into the base at a slight outward angle, then bend it up into the metal eyelet on the fabric door.
It’s often easier to do this from inside the tent.
Tip: Stand to the side while inserting the poles in case they slip.
Closing the Tent
Before packing up, shake off any rainwater and open the windows for 5–10 minutes to let the tent air out. If you need to close it wet, make sure to reopen and dry it within 24 hours to avoid mildew.
To close:
Open the windows slightly to let air escape or keep them fully open
Pull the elastic cord back into position
Fold in the fabric all around the edges
Collapse the ladder and store it
Pull down the lid using the handle and fasten the latches
Care & Storage
You can keep the tent on your vehicle all year round. If you prefer to remove it, store it on its side and protect the shell with padding.
Once a year, clean the fabric with warm water and reproof with a standard tent waterproofing spray.
